A Vision Born at Howard University

On January 9, 1914, three visionary young men—A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown—established Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on the campus of Howard University. But this was never just about brotherhood for brotherhood’s sake. The Founders imagined a fraternity “Built on the ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service,” grounded in the belief that members should return their talents to uplift the communities around them.

That mission still resonates—loud and clear—more than a century later.
