About Alpha Sigma Tau

Founded on November 4, 1899, at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University), Alpha Sigma Tau was built by eight women who believed in empowering each other through friendship, integrity, and purpose.

Over a century later, AST continues to develop women of character who know how to lead, serve, and show up—whether it’s in the chapter house, the classroom, or the boardroom.
