About Phi Mu

Founded on March 4, 1852, at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, Phi Mu is the second-oldest women's fraternity and has always been rooted in friendship, faith, and strong values. Originally established as the Philomathean Society, Phi Mu was created to provide support, encouragement, and sisterhood to women navigating a world that didn’t always make space for them.

More than 170 years later, Phi Mu continues to stand for love, honor, and truth—and that legacy wears well.

Symbols, Colors & Motto

• Colors: Rose and White – Feminine, classic, and far more powerful than they look.

• Flower: Rose-Colored Carnation – Delicate but resilient. Pretty with purpose.

• Symbol: The Quatrefoil – Elegant, geometric, and perfect on jewelry.
