About Alpha Epsilon Phi

Founded on October 24, 1909, at Barnard College in New York City, Alpha Epsilon Phi was created by seven Jewish women who sought a sisterhood that reflected their values, intellect, and cultural identity. With a mission rooted in personal growth, community, and lifelong friendship, AEPhi continues to empower women across the country—and around the world.

Fun fact: the original chapter was so successful, they started expanding within just a year. That’s how you know you’re doing something right.

Symbols, Colors & Motto

• Colors: Green and White – Green represents growth and renewal; white stands for sincerity. Together? It's giving timeless with a purpose.

• Flower: Lily of the Valley – Elegant, fragrant, and lowkey symbolic of happiness and humility.

• Mascot: Giraffe – The only animal that sees the big picture and leads with its heart (seriously—biggest heart of any land mammal).
